Asante Kotoko's 1-1 draw with Medeama SC on Sunday, January 5, 2025, left head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum disappointed, as he felt his side had done enough to claim all three points.

Kwame Opoku opened the scoring for Kotoko in the 44th minute, giving the Porcupine Warriors a solid lead. With league leaders Kpando Heart of Lions suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bechem United, the stage was set for Kotoko to narrow the gap at the top of the table.

However, Kamaradini Mamudu struck in the 61st minute to level the game, denying Kotoko a crucial victory. The draw leaves Kotoko in sixth place with 28 points, just two points behind the league leaders.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ogum lamented his team’s inability to capitalize on their chances.

“I think we played well. We had more clear-cut chances, especially in the first half, and in the second half, we looked dangerous on the counter. If you ask me, we created more opportunities, and the result doesn’t reflect our performance. At the very least, we should have won this game,” Ogum said.

Despite the setback, Kotoko will have an opportunity to bounce back when they host newcomers Vision FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, January 19, 2025. The match offers a chance for Ogum’s side to reignite their title ambitions and keep the pressure on the league leaders.
