Asante Kotoko have begun formal negotiations with Golden Kick FC over the potential signing of their standout attacking midfielder, Dacosta Owusu, following the conclusion of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup.
The 21-year-old playmaker caught the attention of Kotoko’s technical team with a series of impressive performances throughout Golden Kick’s dream FA Cup run. He was a central figure in Sunday’s final at the University of Ghana Stadium, where Golden Kick narrowly lost 2-1 to Kotoko after a controversial stoppage-time penalty.
Sources close to the negotiations indicate that Golden Kick are open to a deal but will only sanction the transfer if Kotoko meet their valuation of the player, who is widely regarded as one of the brightest attacking midfielders in the Ghanaian game.
Owusu’s vision, close control, and creativity have made him a hot commodity in the domestic transfer market, and Kotoko are now leading the race to secure his signature as they prepare for a return to continental football in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
With a busy transfer window ahead, Kotoko view Owusu as a priority target to strengthen their midfield. His arrival would add depth and flair to their squad as the Porcupine Warriors aim to challenge both domestically and on the African stage next season.
Negotiations are said to be progressing positively, and Kotoko are expected to submit an official bid in the coming days, signalling their intent to make impactful signings ahead of the new campaign.
