Georges Mfegue Rodrique Omgba, the striker for Asante Kotoko, believes that injuries have been the main factor behind his poor form this season in the betPawa Premier League.
Mfegue has faced criticism for his performances as the Porcupines, who recently dismissed coach Seydou Zerbo, have dropped out of the top four due to their disappointing displays in recent matches.
The 24-year-old has struggled with inconsistency this season, mainly due to missing several games for the Reds due to injuries. As a result, he has appeared lacking in match fitness in recent matches and was absent from Kotoko's 1-1 draw with Gold Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday.
However, in a post on his official Facebook page, Mfegue expressed his deep affection for the club and attributed his failure to meet the expectations of fans and critics to his injury setbacks. He vowed to come back stronger next season.
"I love this club with all my heart and I would always like to give the best of myself every day that I wear this jersey but there are very difficult moments in the life of a footballer and this is my case at the moment with so many injuries but be sure next season I will come back stronger and thank you very much for your criticism case it allows you to improve even as you want to"
Mfegue had an impressive debut season at the club, scoring 8 goals and providing 4 assists in 27 games. In his second season, the Cameroonian striker has found the net once in 21 games, along with contributing 4 assists.
