The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved the team's participation in a high-profile international friendly match against Major League Soccer (MLS) side DC United on October 12, 2024. This exciting encounter will take place at the state-of-the-art Audi Field in Washington, DC.
Organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the GFA, the annual ceremonial match is part of the activities celebrating Ghana Week DC 2024, which runs from October 7 to 12. This matchup between two historic teams aims to amplify the celebration of Ghanaian culture in the capital.
This marks the second time a Ghanaian Premier League club has traveled to the United States to face an MLS side, following Medeama SC's 2-1 loss in a similar friendly on October 14, 2023.
Asante Kotoko SC is eager to make a positive impact on the international stage and showcase the talent of Ghanaian football. Prior to their departure, the Porcupine Warriors will face Accra Lions in a matchday five encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, October 6.
