Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, head coach of Hearts of Oak has urged technical handlers of Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars to include Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbasi in the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Since his international debut in March 2025, Asare has been Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper and an important cog in the World Cup qualifiers. The former Great Olympics shot-stopper was sidelined for weeks after an injury in a friendly with South Korea in November last year, but he made his comeback in Hearts of Oak 1-0 victory over Hohoe United.

In his absence, Agbasi has impressed between the posts for the Phobians. The former Dreams FC goalkeeper made his Hearts debut against Swedru All Blacks on November 15 and has since established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Didi Dramani insisted both players deserve a spot in the national team.

“Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbasi must be in the Black Stars squad for the World Cup. Both of them have been at the Black Galaxies, and with how they are performing, both of them must be in the squad.”

He added: “Hearts of Oak have been in a similar position before. Both of them are performing, and they must be there.”

Didi Dramani is expected to start Asare in Hearts of Oak's upcoming Matchday 19 clash against Dreams FC at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, January 18.

Black Stars coach Otto Addo is scheduled to announce his final squad on June 1.
