Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has credited Kumasi Asante Kotoko boss Karim Zito for playing a key role in his appointment at the Kpando-based club.
The veteran trainer revealed that his appointment by the 'Dzie Woa Nu' was made possible after Zito personally recommended him to club president Dr Randy Abbey at a crucial moment.
“I’m grateful to Coach Karim Zito; he recommended me to Dr Randy Abbey for the Heart of Lions job when their coach voluntarily asked to leave the club. They were even in doubt about me and had to do their own checks,” Hayford explained.

Although the board initially harboured doubts, Hayford’s proven track record eventually swayed their decision.
The 67-year-old tactical brainy is now determined to repay the faith shown in him by steering the club towards a stronger Ghana Premier League season.
