Heart of Lions boss, Bashiru Hayford has taken a huge swipe at his former club Asante Kotoko after flashing them with a huge upset over the weekend in the opening game of the second round of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
The Lions exhibited a gallant performance having stayed up courageous till full time to narrowly edge the Porcupine Warriors by a 1-0 at the Kpando Stadium in match-day 18 last Saturday.
The game was really a very close one just like the first leg in Kumasi but Kwadwo Asamoah Godfred's 51st minute goal was enough for the hosts to run out with all three points after full time.
Heart of Lions despite going series of weeks without a win in the first round are currently on a four-game unbeaten run with three wins and a draw despite having bumper pairings within the period against Berekum Chelsea, Dreams FC, champions Medeama SC and recently Kotoko.
The man behind this sudden magic is experienced gaffer Bashiru Hayford who stated in his post-match presser that, he's never had problems facing his former club Kotoko and this game was just one of those. He told StarTimes;
“As for Kotoko, I have faced Kotoko with other teams and facing them hasn’t been a problem for me. From Kessben to Medeama and AshantiGold, I haven’t encountered any problem facing Kotoko."
“So I told them, [Heart of Lions] it is a big team but there shouldn’t be any fears and they did exactly that. The fact that it is one of the biggest team in Africa doesn’t make them unplayable.”
They will travel to the capital to clash with Great Olympics in the next round of matches this weekend.
