Bechem United chairman, Kingsley Owusu Achau, has accused referee Joseph Kwofie of big-club bias in his team's recent draw with Asante Kotoko.

The Hunter managed a 1-1 draw with Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday, with Bechem United falling victim to a perceived injustice.

Speaking after the game, Achau alleged that the referee's decisions were unfairly influenced against them.

"The referee was highly biased and bent on ensuring that the Porcupine Warriors secured the maximum points," he told Daily Graphic.

"The officials didn't want Kotoko to drop a point, so the referee had the task of ensuring they got the maximum points."

According to Mr Achau, such biased officiating does not only undermine the integrity of the game but also incites hooliganism and violence at match centres.

"Now the GFA has put in place mechanisms to curtail hooliganism, which is commendable, but if it is not supported by fair officiating, it will not stand the test of time. A time will come when these measures will break down," he warned.
