Bechem United head coach Desmond-Issah Botchway says his side’s defensive mistakes were to blame for their 1-0 loss to Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League.

The defeat leaves Bechem United winless after three matches in the 2025/26 campaign, with two defeats and a draw placing them 15th in the standings.

Speaking after the match, Botchway said his players prepared well but lacked concentration at the back.

“We were well-determined for this game. We knew we were going to play a good side; we prepared very well, but unfortunately, it was tough,” he said.

“I think all departments did well except the defence, which was a little bit sluggish and lacked concentration. It is the lack of concentration that caused us this game.”

Bechem will next host Hearts of Oak in Week 4 on Friday, October 3, while Heart of Lions will slug it out with Asante Kotoko on Sunday as they aim to continue their strong start to the season.
