The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has charged Berekum Chelsea with multiple breaches of Ghana Premier League regulations following their opening-day clash with Asante Kotoko at the Golden City Park.

According to the GFA, the violations occurred both before and during the 2025/26 league encounter. Key breaches cited include the club’s failure to ensure all players had their names displayed on the back of their jerseys and the omission of a mandatory pre-match briefing for the head coach.

In addition, the club allegedly allowed Mr. Obed Nana Nketia, identified as an unauthorised official, to occupy a seat within the inner perimeter during the match — a violation of the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols introduced for the new season.

“Berekum Chelsea have been charged with multiple breaches of the Ghana Premier League Regulations, 2025, and the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols, 2025, following their Premier League game against Asante Kotoko SC at the Golden City Park,” the GFA confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday, September 14.

The club has until Tuesday, September 16, to formally respond to the charges.
