In Accra, a High Court has convicted Ghana Football Association General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and non-Executive Council Member Sheikh Tophic Sienu of contempt of court.

Each has been fined GHC 24,000 and sentenced to one day in prison.

The contempt charges were brought by Ashanti Gold FC against the Executive Council Members of the GFA for starting the 2022/2023 Betpawa Premier League despite an interlocutory injunction.

The court acquitted and discharged 12 other defendants, including GFA President Kurt Okraku.

Ashanti Gold FC had requested the Executive Council Members' imprisonment for their lack of respect for the court's dignity, respect, and authority.
