Following a crisis meeting convened by the life patron of Asante Kotoko SC, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has been instructed to continue his role with the club.
The gathering, which took place at the residence of Otumfuo in Manhyia on Tuesday, April 18, brought together key stakeholders including players, the technical team, and the Interim Management Committee (IMC).
The primary objective of the meeting was to address the pressing concerns within the club, particularly its recent performance challenges in the Ghana Premier League.
Decisions made during this pivotal assembly are expected to chart the course for Asante Kotoko as they navigate through the ongoing league season, seeking solutions to their struggles.
With the team enduring a downturn in form, including a solitary victory in their last seven matches, Kotoko currently occupies the 11th position on the league table with 33 points. The unrest within the club peaked when a faction of supporters disrupted a training session, calling for the resignation of Coach Prosper Ogum and his technical staff.
In response to these developments and in a bid to proactively address the club’s challenges, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II intervened to convene the emergency meeting, affirming Ogum's position as head coach alongside the IMC.
As Asante Kotoko endeavors to regain momentum, they are gearing up to face league leaders FC Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium in their upcoming Matchday 27 fixture on Sunday.
