Former Asante Kotoko captain and current coach at Division Two side Fast Track FC, Amos Frimpong, believes that inexperience is a key factor affecting the performance of the club in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

Frimpong, a legend at Kotoko, expressed his observations regarding the team's struggles in the second round of the league, where they have only managed to secure four points from nine matches, leaving them in eleventh place on the table.

Speaking to Guide Radio, Frimpong highlighted the issue of inexperience among the players as a significant challenge for the club.

"This season I have watched most of Kotoko games, and at times, if you are at the stadium watching the game, you could also clearly see most of them are inexperienced, and it sometimes affects the team," he stated.

Frimpong emphasized the importance of not just having good players but also the need for experience to perform consistently for the club.

He provided an example of a former Kotoko player, Prince Acquah, who played against Kotoko for Nations FC, highlighting the difference experience makes.

"For example, I was at the stadium watching Kotoko against Nations FC and I played with Prince Acquah, a former player of Kotoko, he was playing for Nations FC. I was telling my colleague if Prince Acquah is playing against these current players of Kotoko. There is no fear because he has seen it all," he added.

"So I will also attribute the recent performance of the team to the inexperience of most of the players. There are good players, but most of them are inexperienced and have not seen things like this before," Frimpong added.

Asante Kotoko will be looking for a turnaround in fortunes when they face league leaders FC Samartex in their upcoming fixtures.
