His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the life patron of Asante Kotoko, has given his blessing to our Technical Director, James Kwasi Appiah, to accept the position of Head Coach for the Sudan national team.

This blessing followed a meeting in London between His Majesty and the club's former left-back, Kwasi Appiah.

While taking on the role of Head Coach for Sudan, Kwasi Appiah will continue to serve as the Technical Director of Kotoko. In this capacity, he will also participate in the upcoming Ghana Football Association's Executive Council elections, which are scheduled for next month.

Kwasi Appiah, an experienced technical expert who has twice managed the Black Stars from 2013 to 2014 and 2017 to 2019, is expected to provide leadership in Kotoko's technical direction as the team undergoes restructuring.

Before his appointment as Head Coach for Sudan, Appiah had a successful stint coaching Sudanese side Khartoum Club from December 2014 to April 2017. During his time there, he achieved notable success, including leading them to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Prior to his Sudanese adventure, Appiah served as the head coach of the Black Stars, guiding the team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

It's worth noting that due to recent political unrest in Sudan, the Sudanese Football Association has decided that the national teams will play their home matches in Egypt.
