Reigning Ghana FA Cup champions Nsoatreman FC have appointed Yaw Preko as their new head coach following the departure of Maxwell Konadu, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.

Konadu, who led the club to their best ever season since it establishment in 2019, left his role as the head coach to seek a new challenge elsewhere, as announced earlier this week.

 

He earned them a top four finish and topped up with the club's first major silverware after beating regional rivals Bofoakwa Tano FC in the final to lift the MTN FA Cup weeks ago.

 

The Black Galaxies boss is joining South African side Black Leopards on a reported three-year contract, confirmed by the club's Chairman couple of days ago.

 

Lots of coaches were shortlisted to take up the vacant role with former Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor initially the frontrunner but the deal couldn't go through.

 

However, the 'Efiri Tete Amanaso' side have now named former Black Satellites gaffer Yaw Preko as their new head coach on a two-year deal, with official club announcement very imminent.

 

He is expected to lead the team to the 2024/25 football season as he will definitely look to defend the league cup, target the ultimate this time and also hope for a better campaign in the CAF Confederations Cup. 

 

The 49-year-old tactician in his coaching career has handled clubs like Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, Medeama SC, Nigerian side Ifeanyi Ubah and others.

 

He is currently the head coach of Ghana U-15 boys national team.
