Ghana’s top-class referee Daniel Nii Laryea was the man in the middle for match-day 22 clash between giants; Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak at Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, February 15, 2026. 

The Phobians emerged victorious in the Super-Clash after full-time courtesy Baba Adamu’s early header in the 14th minute. 

The Raimbow Club went down to ten men after right-back Emmanuel Amankwah picked up a second yellow card, but they defended strongly to hold on for the vital away win.

Laryea managed the tension well throughout the game and his calls, including the red card, were seen as spot-on by many and ensured the Super-Clash stayed under control without major chaos.

Before the game, Laryea showed exhibited a great gesture by purchasing 50 tickets and shared them for free to the supporters of both teams - who were unable to afford. 

Laryea is widely regarded as Ghana’s best referee for years now. He made history at the 2025 AFCON by becoming the first Ghanaian in 54 years to officiate at the semi-final stage.
