Ashanti Gold Sporting Club's head coach, Thomas Duah, has shared his perspective on why players from Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are not being called up to the Ghana national team, the Black Stars.

In his view, the main reason is that these two teams no longer have high-quality players.

"The poor recruitment strategies employed by Kotoko and Hearts have contributed to their dismal performances in the league," Coach Thomas Duah stated.

He further emphasized that most of their recent signings have been free agents who do not possess exceptional skills, unlike the approach taken by these clubs in the past.

"I agree with the notion that these two teams lack quality. This deficiency in quality has had an impact on their chances of receiving call-ups to the national teams," commented the Ashanti Gold SC coach.

Thomas Duah lamented that gone are the days when Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak were renowned for attracting some of the most talented players in the local scene, as the situation has now changed significantly.

As Ghana prepares to participate in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) next month, it remains uncertain whether coach Chris Hughton will consider players from the local league for selection.
