Former defensive midfielder of Hearts of Oak, Caleb Amankwah has professed his admiration for Asante Kotoko despite playing for their sworn-rivals Hearts of Oak.
Amankwah risked the wrath of the Phobian fans by claiming he's a big fan of the Porcupine Warriors.
The creative midfielder played for Hearts of Oak in two stints, having featured for WAFA and Aduana Stars before moving to Ethiopian Commercial Bank FC.
However, it seems his time at the Phobians has done little to lessen his admiration for Porcupine Warriors, despite the great rivalry between the two sides.
When asked during an interview with Ghanasportspage.com whether he would consider playing for Kotoko, he replied: "I have been a Kotoko fan since I was young, and it was always my dream to play for the club. I prayed to God to help me play for the top teams in Ghana, and whenever my contracts ended, these clubs would approach me.…"
"After finishing my contract at WAFA, both Hearts and Kotoko showed interest, but my representatives weren’t satisfied with the terms from either side, so I ended up at Aduana.
“Following my time at Aduana, Kotoko and Hearts came calling again, but I ended up joining Hearts. Despite that, I remain a die-hard Kotoko fan because I’ve been following their matches since childhood.
“I used to watch their games and admire the players, thinking that when I get the chance to play for them, I would also impress and earn the support of the fans. Kotoko is a club I truly love and support.”
