Former Hearts of Oak center-back Michael Awuah Mensah has completed a move to Berekum Chelsea, signing a one-year contract with the Bibires ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, Kickgh.com can confirm.
Awuah joined Hearts of Oak from Nations FC last season but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in the Phobians’ backline. His time in Accra came to an abrupt end a few days ago after new head coach Didi Dramani declared him surplus to requirements as part of the club’s restructuring process.
The 24-year-old defender now looks set for a fresh start in Berekum, where he is expected to bring solidity and experience to Chelsea’s defense. The Bibires, who are aiming to improve their league standing after a challenging campaign last season, see Awuah as a valuable addition to their squad depth.
Despite limited opportunities at Hearts, Awuah’s strong tackling and aerial ability earned him recognition, and Chelsea are optimistic he can rediscover his form in Berekum.
