Ghanaian powerhouse Accra Hearts of Oak have seen their hopes of swooping for Abdul Fatawu Hamidu hit by the emergence of Asante Kotoko in the race to sign the Medeama defender.

Fatawu was a standout performer for the Tarkwa-based club in the CAF Champions League campaign as well as the Ghana Premier League.

His scintillating performances have earned him call-ups into the Black Stars in recent times.

However, Kickgh.com can confirm that both Hearts of Oak and Kotoko have shown keen interest in the highly-rated defender.

Our source further revealed that, the Phobians have held several talks with his entourage but are yet to officially contact Medeama to discuss a fee.

Both Hearts and Kotoko are aiming to boost their squads ahead of the upcoming season having had a bad 2023/24 season.

Hamidu, 25, made 19 appearances for Medeama in the league last season, scoring once and providing four assists.

He has made one appearance for the Black Stars in a friendly game against Liberia at the Accra Sports Stadium.
