The newly-promoted Italian top-flight league outfit have entered into advanced discussions with the Porcupine Warriors to acquire the services of the hugely talented full-back this summer, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.

Italian Serie A returnees Union Sportiva Lecce are in advanced talks with Asante Kotoko to sign Augustine Agyapong in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old right-back, who joined Asante Kotoko prior to the start of the 2021/22 season from lower-tier side Delsamaco FC, emerged on the wishlist of the Yellow and Red lads following his explosive performance in the about to end Ghana Premier League season.

Kickgh.com can exclusively report that negotiation between officials of Asante Kotoko and U.S Lecce over the transfer of Agyapong has reached an advanced stage, with the Italian club proposing a lucrative offer to acquire the young defender on a long-term contract.

Agyapong was a standout performer for Asante Kotoko in the 2021/22 campaign, scoring one goal and an assist in 13 matches before joining the Ghana U20 side for the 2022 WAFU U-20 Cup of Nations in Niger.

He is a key member of the current male national U20 team of Ghana and also featured in the just ended Tournoi Maurice Revello tournament in France.

Agyapong is currently rated among the best full-backs in the Ghanaian top-flight league despite enjoying few games due to international assignments.
