Asante Kotoko are leading the chase to sign Frederick Asare from Accra Lions as replacement for Kwame Baah who has seen out his contract with the Ghanaian champions, kickgh.com understands.
According to a source available to this site, the Porcupine Warriors have officially written to Accra Lions for the services of their goal custodian.
With 13 clean sheets in 28 games for his side in their debut season, Asare emerged one of the best net-minders in the division. His performances didn't go unnoticed as he earned a call-up into the Black Galaxies to prepare for the CHAN qualifier later this month.
Asare drew praise from fans and pundits alike with his excellent display in goal when Accra Lions hosted Kotoko in a 1-1 stalemate at the Accra Sports stadium last month . Making series of stunning reflex saves.
However, it is said that he is very happy with life in the Ghanaian capital and it would take some doing to convince him to leave even if Lions accept a transfer offer.
