Ghana Premier League champions, FC Samartex 1996, have added to their trophy cabinet the Nsenkyire Cup- a three day pre-season tournament they hosted in Samreboi.

The mini-tourney comprised of four clubs; Nations FC, Nsoatreman FC, Legon Cities FC and hosts FC Samartex- with all matches held at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex in Samreboi.

This was a competition to aid all partaking clubs in their pre-season and also provide them the avenue to test their strength and readiness ahead of the 2024/25 football season.

The Timber Giants on road to victory, set off with a flying start after mauling Nsoatreman FC by an emphatic 4-0 before sharing spoils with Nations FC after a 2-2 stalemate and a thrilling marathon of penalty shootouts.

The Green-Blacks wrapped up their run and annexed the trophy with a narrow 1-0 win over Legon Cities FC, courtesy Baba Musah Hamadu's second half penalty.

This host and win success will definitely mean a lot to FC Samartex who lost the title in the last edition to Berekum Chelsea- who couldn't partake this year.

They will face Cameroonian champions Victoria United in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on August 18, at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.
