Accra Lions made history in the Ghana Premier League with a stunning 5-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in Sogakope, spoiling coach Samuel Boadu's return to the sidelines.
Boadu, recently appointed as Berekum Chelsea's new coach, endured a nightmare start as his side succumbed to the Lions' relentless onslaught.
The Lions, eager to kickstart their second-round campaign, showcased their attacking prowess with new signing Blessing Asuman making an instant impact by netting two goals. Youngster Dominic Amponsah, Ali Mohammed, and substitute Abdul Shakun Abubakar also found the back of the net.
The Lions set the tone early, with Asuman threatening the Chelsea goal before Yahaya Mohammed tested the goalkeeper with a powerful effort. Amponsah then broke the deadlock, dribbling past defenders before slotting home.
Before halftime, defender Ali Mohammed extended the Lions' lead with a well-taken header from a corner kick.
In the second half, Asuman continued to dazzle, scoring a sensational debut goal and adding a second soon after. His stellar performance earned him a standing ovation as he made way for Bernard Kesse.
To cap off their dominant display, Shakun Abubakar sealed the Lions' biggest win with a fifth goal, leaving Berekum Chelsea stunned and coach Boadu with much to ponder.
