Dominic Amponsah netted a 74th-minute leveller as Accra Lions drew 1-1 with Karela United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Accra Lions dominated the clash for long spells, but Mohammed Asigre’s excellent finish of the contest looked to be securing a vital three points for the Pride and Passion in their battle against relegation.

Amponsah had other ideas, though, notching home in the 74th minute after Bernard Kesse fired a shot that the goalkeeper Mohammed Abdul Ganiu punches onto Amponsah’s path for an easy tap in which ensured that the ‘Yen Nyinaa Dea’ would secure a share of the spoils.

Ibrahim Tanko’s side have climbed to the 4th position in the table, nine point beneath 1st-placed Samartex, while Karela are now sitting on fifteenth, one point clear of the relegation zone.

Karela will continue their league campaign away at Aduana Stars next Sunday, while Accra Lions attention will now switch to match-week 28, preparing to head to Accra Hearts of Oak in the round 28 fixture on Sunday.
