Peter Acquah and Bernard Somuah scored the goals of the match as Asante Kotoko recorded a 2-0 victory over Real Tamale United in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Naa Sheriga Sports Complex, Nalerigu.

The already-relegated Northern Blue’s were looking to bounce back from their 2-0 away defeat at Berekum Chelsea last Sunday, but they suffered another loss in front of their own supporters.

Acquah and Somuah came up with the goals in the 61st and 88th minutes, and the result has nailed RTU in eighteenth spot with 31 points in the Premier League table, fifteen points behind 8th-placed Asante Kotoko (racked 46 points).

As expected, Kotoko started the game - gaining control of possession in both halves, but RTU were dangerous on the counter-attack due to their pace and movement.

The visitors continued to look threatening in the dying embers, though, with Somuah finding space late in the half, only for him to notch home at the vital moment, after missing important chances earlier on.

Kotoko were on the front foot, as the contest headed into seven minutes of additional time. However, the Porcupine Warriors held on to secure a famous three points, denting RTU with relegation marks all over in the process.
