Ten-man Legon Cities have held league leaders Samartex FC to a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Dawu Park in GPL match-week 25.
Both teams made an explosive start to the game and had some early incursions in search of the opener, but all proved futile.
It was an explosive start for the homesters after Baba Hamadu was fouled in a very good position for a free kick, but the dink was dealt with nicely by the opposition backline.
Few minutes later, Frederick Akatuk came so close to snatching the lead for the Royals, but his effort was checked by goalkeeper Kofi Baah.
The homesters kept on dictating the pace and pattern of the game and dominated the game in every aspect, but finding the back of the net was the problem.
With two minutes to halftime, Frederick Akatuk exerted so much pressure on Baba Hamadu, which made him score into his own net to give Legon Cities the lead.
In the second half, Samartex FC returned on a blistering note after Emmanuel Keyekeh put Evans Osei-Owusu through, but his run was illegal as he was ruled out for offside.
On the 57th minute, Legon Cities came so close to doubling their lead after Stephen Appiah sent a strong hit but was once again saved by Kofi Baah.
In the 93rd minute, Emmanuel Owusu Boakye finally scored to level things up for Samartex FC. Just what they have been hunting for.
Three minutes later, Legon Cities' Mohammed Alidu was shown a second yellow for a reckless tackle on an opposition player.
It ended 1-1 after full time.
