Enoch Morrison's second half penalty was enough for Asante Kotoko to record a precious 1-0 win over league leaders Samartex FC to return on winning ways after seven-game winless run.

Goalkeeper Frederick Asare returned into the starting line up alongside Nicholas Osei Bonsu and Eric Zeze with Ugandan forward Steven Mukwala missing out.

On the opposition side, Kofi Baah, skipper Emmanuel Keyekeh, Baba Musah Hamadu, James Sewornu, Evans Osei-Owusu, and others all made the cut.

The Porcupine Warriors started on a blistering note after Kalo Ouattara's pressure on the opposition defence which earned them a free kick. The delivery was checked.

The away team were also very desperate and resolute having pushed more men forward also in search of the opener.

Ivorian import Serge Zeze drove forward into enemy territory and raced his way through leaving him in a one on one situation but couldn't make it count.

In the second half, the Timber Giants made a good return and won a free kick at a good position. Emmanuel Keyekeh stepped up but his effort was checked by the hosts backline.

Another huge opportunity on the 54th minute for Baba Hamadu Musah to snatch the lead but Henry Ainsu to the rescue to deny the visitors from grabbing a potential lead.

Kotoko finally opened the scoring account on the 61st minute through Enoch Morrison who scored from a spot-kick.

On the 75th minute, Evans Osei-Owusu broke on a counter with an explosive run from the wings but his delivery was too feeble to trouble goalkeeper Frederick Asare.

It ended 1-0 for Asante Kotoko who have finally ditched their seven-game winless run to return on winning ways.
