In a tightly contested match at the Theatre of Dreams, Legon Cities clinched a narrow victory over Nsoatreman FC on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
Joseph Mereku's precision spot-kick proved to be the decider, ensuring the Royals bounced back to winning form amidst a somewhat inconsistent second round of their campaign.
The match began with an early setback for Legon Cities as Fredrick Akatuk had to be replaced by Williams Adjei just five minutes into the game due to injury.
However, Legon Cities found themselves with an opportunity to break the deadlock in the 24th minute when Adjei was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty. Joseph Mereku stepped up and confidently converted the penalty, sending Daniel Afadwuo the wrong way.
