Nations FC are back on winning ways having relied on Barimah Baah's first half goal to narrowly defeat Accra Lions FC by 1-0 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in the opening fixture of Ghana Premier League match-week 30.
Both teams made a very strong start to the game and displayed some good football in the opening minutes but were without any dangerous incursions.
On the 21st minute, Razak Simpson came so close to snatching the lead for the homesters but his effort was dealt with nicely by goalkeeper Andrews Owusu.
Eleven minutes later, Accra Lions responded also with a glorious chance after Yahaya Mohammed was put through on goal but struck at the throat of the goalie who splits initially to fall on the path of Remember Boateng but couldn't make it count.
On the 41st minute, Nations FC finally jumped into the lead through Barimah Baah who had his initial strike saved but followed up with another to get it at the back of the net.
In the second half, Accra Lions returned on a good note and began to find their rhythm as they hope to level things up but had most of their efforts checked by the Nations defense.
The Blue-Blacks looked much more improved in performance compared to their rickety first half display and attacked with so much intent and purpose as they continue to hunt for the equalizer.
However, the Eagles really needed this win to avenge their recent winless run hence stayed much in their zone in the closing moment of the game to preserve their lead.
Nations FC after this 1-0 win have ended their recent appalling five-game winless run and have moved to 48 points- now four behind leaders Samartex FC.
