Golden City' Park is the venue for the return of Ghana Premier League football after an eleven days break, as Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko seek to strengthen their top-four chances on Saturday lunchtime.
The Bebiris' have recorded two straight losses in their previous games, losing to Legon Cities and their most recent defeat to Hearts of Oak, while the Porcupine Warriors stunned Legon Cities 2-0 at home in Kumasi.
Asante Kotoko’s win over the Royals has left Prosper Ogum’s troops smack-bang in the middle of the standings in 10th position, one point worse off than their upcoming opponents.
Goals have certainly not been at a premium for Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League since the turn of the year, with a demoralizing 15 flying in during their thirteen top-flight fixtures in 2024 so far - an average of two per game - but a lack of defensive intellect is severely hampering Kum-Apem’s African bid.
Indeed, Ogum’s men have let in multiple goals in four of their last ten Ghana Premier League matches and only have three top-flight clean sheet under their belts in 2024 so far, with their most recent coming in from their home contest at Baba Yara Stadium, a resounding 2-0 win over Legon Cities.
Meanwhile, four of Berekum Chelsea’s last six home matches in the top-flight have seen Samuel Boadu’s men notched at least three goals, and they have fired one win and recorded three losses in their last four Ghana Premier League matches.
