Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin Suleman received a red card during Rayo Vallecano's La Liga match against Deportivo Alaves on Sunday.
The Black Stars center-back was dismissed just 22 minutes into the game after a reckless tackle on Alaves forward Toni Martinez.
Initially shown a yellow card by referee Adrián Cordero Vega, Mumin's fate changed after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, which upgraded the penalty to a straight red card.
Despite being reduced to ten men for the majority of the match, Rayo Vallecano clinched a late victory thanks to an own goal from Alaves goalkeeper Antonio Sivera.
Mumin, who had been recognized as Rayo Vallecano's Player of the Month for September, will now miss upcoming fixtures against Villarreal, Las Palmas, and Sevilla due to his suspension. This season, the Right to Dream Academy graduate has made 11 appearances in La Liga, scoring one goal and providing one assist for Vallecano.
