Hearts of Oak manager, Martin Koopman, has characterized the club's goal-scoring challenges as a "national issue" following their goalless draw against FC Samartex on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
The Phobians struggled to find the back of the net once again as FC Samartex held them to a goalless draw in the sixth week of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This scoreless result means Hearts of Oak have played five matches in the Ghana Premier League, scoring just a single goal.
In response to the team's goal-scoring issues after the FC Samartex game, Martin Koopman expressed that Hearts of Oak's difficulty in scoring goals is a reflection of a larger problem in Ghana, where there is a lack of quality strikers.
Koopman stated, "I'm not the problem here; it's a national issue. Even the Black Stars don't have wingers and strikers to score goals. Ghanaian players tend to hold onto the ball too much, and they need to develop."
As of now, Hearts of Oak occupies the 12th position on the Ghana Premier League table with five points from five games.
