Abdul Gazale, the interim coach of Asante Kotoko, has praised the performance of Brazilian striker Matheus Medeiros de Souza following their recent draw against Legon Cities.
The 26-year-old forward had previously played as a substitute in the team's 4-0 win over Accra Lions in February. However, he impressed Gazale in the match at the El-Wak Stadium and was only substituted in the 76th minute.
The coach praised Medeiros de Souza's versatility, “He did exactly what he was asked of. He is very tough on the ball and very defensive-minded on the ball despite being a striker. He dropped deep to help in the build-ups and that was exactly what was expected of him and he needs to keep it up,” Gazale said.
The Brazilian will be hoping for more minutes as Kotoko aim to return to winning ways after their last two matches. They face Real Tamale United, who are currently in 10th place, at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
