Head coach of Heart of Lions, Bashiru Hayford has expressed a huge displeasure after his side’s defeat to Nations FC over the weekend stating the experience guys in his team failed to live up to the task.

The ‘Dzie Woa Nou’ lads gave away a goal-lead ro suffer a 2-1 defeat to the Eagles in what was a very thrilling game at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports last Saturday

Liberian international Chauncy Freeman opened the scoring account for Lions with a close range strike in the 17th minute.

Ruben Hennessy headed into his own net from Antwi Sarpong’s little cross into the box for the home team to get back on level terms even before half-time.

With just five minutes to full-time, Prince Badu’s strong hit from distance took a wicked deflection to get into the net to hand Nations FC the lead for the first time in the game and the precious win in the end

In a post-match interview, Bashiru Hayford said his players were very complacent and wasteful and that accounted for their defeat in Abrankese

“I think because of the winning we are winning my top players, they call themselves senior players. I think they are joking. I should put them on their feet. The complacency is too much, and that’s why we lost. Honestly, my so-called experienced players have let me down,” the experienced tactician said.

“I’m very disappointed. We have had the opportunity to jump to the top five times, and honestly, anytime we get the opportunity, we mess up. We have to go to the drawing board.”

The defeat has really thrown a huge dent on Heart of Lions’ league winning hopes and will have play their hearts out for redemption against second-placed Aduana Stars next week
