Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has named a 23-man squad for the crucial Ghana Premier League Week 28 clash against Karela United, set for Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Phobians are desperate to return to winning ways following a dip in form that has seen them win just once in their last five games, slipping to 7th place on the league table with 41 points. With the season approaching its final stretch, victory on Sunday is vital as they aim to finish in the top four.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare leads the squad and is expected to start, having delivered a string of strong performances this season.
In defence, experienced centre-back Konadu Yiadom is joined by Michael Ampadu, Mohammed Sherif, Emmanuel Amankwah, Raphael Amponsah, Ransford Mensah, David Oppong Afrane, and Kelvin Osei Asibey. The Phobians’ backline remains one of the most solid in the league, conceding only 17 goals so far.
The midfield boasts a mix of creativity and energy, with Theophilus Collinson, Enock Esubonteng, Kwasi Asmah, Kwabena Boateng, Mohammed Hussein, Mawuli Wayo, Martin Karkari, Stephen Appiah Asare, Seth Osei, and Ahmed Ramzy Yussif all making the squad.
In attack, Ouattara will look to Abdul Aziz Adam, Asamoah Boateng Afriyie, and Hamza Issah to deliver the goals against a Karela United side languishing in 16th place and fighting for survival.
Hearts will be confident heading into the match, having never lost at home to Karela United in a league fixture since 2020—a record they’ll be determined to maintain.
