Accra Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey has expressed strong confidence in his team's chances of upsetting Asante Kotoko in the upcoming Democracy Cup match.

The highly anticipated game between the two most glamorous clubs in the country is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with a kick-off time of 6:00pm.

The match commemorates 30 years of democratic practice in Ghana.

Speaking to Kessben FM, Asibey emphasized that his side is taking the game seriously and is preparing to win the trophy.

"There is no such thing as a friendly match between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. It's a Cup game between Hearts and Kotoko, definitely, there will be tension. Both teams are preparing to win the game on Wednesday. We are not taking the game lightly," he said.

When asked if Hearts of Oak are going to win the trophy, Asibey replied confidently, "For sure. We are preparing well for the game. We are looking at winning the game."

It's worth noting that Asante Kotoko recorded back-to-back wins over Hearts of Oak during the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign. However, Asibey remains optimistic about his team's chances, citing their preparation and determination to lift the trophy.

Before the game, parliamentarians and former Black Stars players will compete at the same venue as part of the activities to thrill fans.
