According to various reports, Hearts of Oak is preparing to launch an investigation into allegations of bribery that have surfaced surrounding the team during the recently concluded 2022/23 season.
In order to address concerns about the integrity of the game, the Board of Directors at Hearts of Oak has established a committee specifically tasked with investigating the validity of these claims.
The allegations revolve around suspicions that several players from Hearts of Oak were involved in a manipulated match during the previous season, thereby compromising the fairness and spirit of the sport.
In response to the gravity of these allegations, the Board of Directors has taken swift and decisive action to address the issue at hand.
Sources close to the matter have indicated that the committee's inaugural meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday at the World Trade Centre in Accra, specifically on the 14th floor.
Comprised of respected individuals, this committee aims to summon both witnesses and suspects involved to provide their testimonies pertaining to the alleged bribery scandal.
It is worth noting that Hearts of Oak concluded the Ghana Premier League season in 12th place with 46 points, narrowly avoiding relegation by just a single point on the final day.
Given the team's underwhelming performance, there is a sense of dissatisfaction among both team members and supporters.
To ensure a thorough investigation, the committee will be led by two prominent Board Members, namely Justice Ivy Heward Mills and Dr Nyaho Tama. Additionally, they will be supported by a senior official from the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) as well as two legal professionals.
