Accra Hearts of Oak have revived their interest in dynamic winger Evans Osei Owusu as part of their plans to reinforce the squad ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The 24-year-old, who recently departed FC Samartex 1996 following the end of the season, has emerged as a key target for the Phobians. Club sources reveal that preliminary discussions have already begun between Hearts officials and the player’s representatives, with a formal offer anticipated in the coming weeks.

Osei Owusu, known for his blistering pace, close control, and attacking instincts, enjoyed a standout season with Samartex, scoring 11 goals and providing 8 assists in 27 appearances. His contributions were instrumental in helping the club win their first-ever Ghana Premier League title, earning him recognition as one of the league’s top attacking threats.

He also played a pivotal role in Samartex's counter-attacking system, frequently delivering key goals and assists in high-pressure games. His consistent performances over the last two campaigns have made him one of the most sought-after free agents on the domestic market.

Hearts of Oak, under newly appointed head coach Aboubakar Ouattara, are undergoing a major rebuild after a disappointing 2023/24 campaign that saw them finish outside the top four. Ouattara is leading a recruitment strategy focused on signing proven Premier League performers, and Osei Owusu fits that profile perfectly.

Though talks are still in the early stages, Hearts face competition from at least one other Ghana Premier League side also interested in acquiring the former Samartex star. With the transfer window approaching, negotiations are expected to gain momentum in the coming weeks.
