Asante Kotoko are reportedly considering Bechem United goalkeeper Dari Aziz Haruna as a potential replacement for Frederick Asare ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Asare, 25, joined Kotoko on a free transfer in 2022, but his contract with the Porcupine Warriors is set to expire in June 2025.
Although the club has reportedly agreed terms with him for a contract renewal, uncertainty surrounds his future due to limited playing time this season.
In contrast, Dari Aziz Haruna has caught attention with his impressive performances for Bechem United, featuring in 27 Ghana Premier League matches, conceding only 19 goals, and recording 15 clean sheets. His consistent displays have made him a standout goalkeeper in the league this season.
Asare, on the other hand, has appeared in just 15 league games this term, keeping seven clean sheets while conceding 12 goals. The limited game time has also impacted his international prospects, despite receiving his first call-up to the Ghana senior national team in 2023.
He is yet to make his debut for the Black Stars.
If Kotoko fail to finalize a new contract with Asare, they are expected to pursue Haruna as their first-choice goalkeeper moving forward.
