Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC has initiated legal action against sports journalist Wisdom Osei Bonsu, popularly known as Darling Boy Pierro, and Kumasi-based Ezra TV/Radio Station, seeking GH¢200,000 in general damages for alleged defamation.

The lawsuit, filed at the Kumasi High Court, also demands aggravated damages, citing what the club describes as malicious intent and the repeated publication of defamatory remarks.

In its claims, Hearts of Oak is requesting a court order compelling the defendants to issue a full and unreserved apology, as well as a retraction to be aired on Ezra TV/Radio and published on all of the station’s online platforms.

The club is further seeking a perpetual injunction to prevent the defendants and their affiliates from publishing any future defamatory statements about Hearts of Oak. The suit also covers legal costs and any other reliefs the court finds appropriate.

The writ, signed by the club’s lawyer, Alhaji Abdulai Sharif, gives the defendants eight days from the date of service to enter an appearance, failing which judgment may be entered against them in their absence.
