The prize money of the Ghana Premier League has been quadrupled ahead of the 2025–26 season's campaign.
President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku announced the record-breaking financial boost for the Ghanaian top-flight league during the 31st GFA Ordinary Congress at the E.T. Mensah Hall, Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
He revealed a record cash prize of GHC2 million for the winners of the upcoming 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season. The previous prize money was Gh¢500,000.
“The winner of the 2025/26 GPL will take home GHS 2 million as prize money,” Okraku said.
“This is a story that has never been told, but today it’s being told. It has been our gospel according to our Premier League every point is important, and now there’s GHS 2 million at stake.”
According to the President, the new prize structure is designed to reward excellence and boost competitiveness across the league.
The top fifteen clubs will all receive financial rewards based on their final league positions, with significant sums allocated to the top finishers.
The runners-up of the Ghana Premier League will receive GHC1 million, third place will earn GHC800,000 and fourth place GHC750,000.
The remaining positions from fifth to fifteenth will also benefit from substantial payouts, ensuring that clubs across the league are incentivized to push for higher finishes.

The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on September 12, 2025.
