Hearts of Oak are reportedly interested in signing Debibi United midfielder Demetrius Sarkodie as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.
Sarkodie, who played a pivotal role in Debibi United’s historic promotion campaign, has become one of the top targets for the Phobians during the ongoing transfer planning period.
The 26-year-old midfielder was instrumental in Debibi’s success in Zone One B of the Division One League, scoring the decisive goal in their crucial 1-0 win over Berekum Arsenal that secured the club’s first-ever promotion to the top flight. His performances throughout the season earned him widespread recognition for his leadership and influence in midfield.
Hearts of Oak are eager to secure his signature as part of a wider squad rebuild following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, which saw the club narrowly avoid relegation on the final day.
The capital club have already begun restructuring their squad and are monitoring several targets, including former AshantiGold midfielder Seth Osei and Basake Holy Stars winger Prince Tweneboah, who is also attracting interest from Medeama SC and Aduana FC.
However, Hearts’ transfer plans could be complicated by a FIFA-imposed transfer ban linked to the unresolved case involving former coach René Hiddink, with the club currently appealing the decision.
Despite the uncertainty, negotiations with Debibi United are ongoing as Hearts push to add Sarkodie’s experience, energy, and creativity to their midfield ahead of the new season.
