Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has firmly stated that the club’s ultimate goal is to win the Ghana Premier League, emphasizing that this ambition drives their participation in the competition.

The Phobians currently sit sixth on the league table with 19 points from 12 matches, just four points adrift of leaders Bibiani GoldStars, who have amassed 23 points. After a sluggish start to the season, Hearts of Oak have regained momentum and are mounting a strong challenge for the title.

Ouattara highlighted the intense competition for the league crown, naming Bibiani GoldStars, Nations FC, Medeama, Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko, and Hearts of Oak as key contenders.

Speaking to Original FM, Ouattara expressed his belief in the team’s title aspirations. “The teams competing to win the Ghana Premier League are many. Bibiani GoldStars, Nations FC, Medeama, Heart of Lions, Hearts of Oak, and Asante Kotoko are all fighting for the title,” he said.

When asked if winning the league was his target, Ouattara responded with an analogy. “Let me ask you a question: if you enroll in secondary school, what is your target?” The interviewer replied, “To pass.” Ouattara continued, “If you say it is not your target to win the league, why are you playing? We are competing for the title, and if it comes to pass, it will not be a surprise. If it doesn’t happen, too, it will not be a surprise.”

Hearts of Oak fans eagerly anticipate the first Super Clash of the season against their archrivals Asante Kotoko, set for Sunday, December 15, 2024, a match that could significantly influence the title race.
