Former Asante Kotoko captain Frederick Asare has officially parted ways with the Porcupine Warriors, bringing an end to a memorable three-year stint with the club.

The goalkeeper confirmed his departure in an emotional message shared with fans, teammates, and club officials.

Asare, who joined Kotoko as a promising youngster, leaves the club having matured into a leader both on and off the pitch. He captained the team to its 11th MTN FA Cup triumph this past season, a moment he describes as one of the proudest of his career.

“From the depth of my heart, I say a very big THANK YOU to His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the management, teammates, and of course, the amazing supporters of this GREAT CLUB,” Asare wrote.

“I came here as a young boy, but after 3 wonderful years, this club has transformed me into a warrior. The honour of wearing the armband of this great club and leading the team to lift this year's FA Cup is a memory that will live with me forever.”

Frederick Asare quickly earned the admiration of the Kotoko faithful with his shot-stopping ability, calm presence in goal, and leadership qualities. His final season was capped by the FA Cup victory, in which his performance was instrumental in guiding the club to silverware.

Though he didn’t disclose his next move, Asare assured fans that his bond with the club remains unbroken.

“I will FOREVER remain one of you, and the great memories we have shared will be with me forever. I wish the club the very best for the next season and the many seasons to come.”

“This isn’t a goodbye. FAAABULOUS—the greatest.”

As Kotoko prepares for the 2025/26 season and their upcoming campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup, Asare’s departure marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter for both the player and the club.
