James Kwasi Appiah, the Technical Director of Asante Kotoko, has affirmed his commitment to aiding the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in addressing technical issues following his election to the Ghana FA Executive Council.

This significant development took place during the 2023 GFA Elections, held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the Global Dream Hotel in Tamale.

Appiah will serve a four-year term as one of the five representatives from the Ghana Premier League on this influential council, having secured 10 out of 18 votes in a competitive race.

Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku was reelected unopposed for a second term and received overwhelming support from voters.

Appiah, the former head coach of the Black Stars, is the sole new member on the Executive Council, while the remaining four Premier League Executive Council members are incumbents, including Dr. Randy Abbey, Frederick Acheampong, Kingsley Osei Bonsu, and Nana Oduro Sarfo.

In a statement provided to Citi Sports, Appiah stated, “For some time now the GFA had never put any technical person in their committee and football it has got to do with technical issues and the main fact that am in there, I will be able to help the GFA to make sure they employ the right technical people.”

He added, “There are so many attributes I can give to the GFA that will help the GFA surge forward.”
