Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC have announced the appointment of Ibrahim Tanko as the club's new head coach on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Tanko, who once handled the Ghana U23 male national team, has joined the Yellow and Mauves lads after mutually terminating his contract with Capital-based side Accra Lions.

 

A statement from Medeama SC confirming Tanko's appointment reads: “Medeama Sporting Club is pleased to confirm the appointment of Coach Ibrahim Tanko on a two-and- half year contract.”

 

The UEFA licence A holder has completed formalities and replaces technical director Augustine Evans Adotey, who reverts to his original role.

 

The former Ghana International is one of the most exciting coaches and brings wealth of experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character to the club.

 

The former Borussia Dortmund star is one of the experienced trainers in the country having worked in Japan’s J League and the Bundesliga.

 

He was also an assistant coach of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions as well as Ghana’s Black Meteors and Black Galaxies.

 

According to the club, Tanko will watch the team’s training session on Wednesday January 29, 2025, at the Akoon Community Park before he takes full charge on Thursday.

 

Tanko will face off against Legon Cities in his first match for the club on Sunday, February 3, 2025, at the TnA Stadium.
