Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has boldly declared his intention to defeat Ibrahim Tanko’s Medeama SC when the two Ghana Premier League title contenders face off at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Zito’s confident pledge heightens the anticipation surrounding what promises to be one of the biggest fixtures of the season, as the Porcupine Warriors aim to bounce back from their first defeat of the campaign.
“It’s unfortunate that my brother, Ibrahim Tanko, is meeting me with his Medeama SC side at this time, but I’ll have to beat him on Sunday,” Zito stated ahead of the game.
Kotoko enter the contest sitting fourth on the league table with 20 points and boast an impressive home record, having gone 16 straight league matches without defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Medeama, currently second with 22 points, travel to Kumasi in formidable form, riding an eight-game unbeaten streak that has solidified their title credentials.
Both sides have conceded only six goals this season, underscoring expectations of a tactically disciplined and fiercely competitive encounter.
Kotoko will also take confidence from their recent home dominance over Medeama, winning three of the last five league meetings between the two teams in Kumasi.
