Asante Kotoko SC has been hit with a significant injury setback as deputy captain Lord Amoah sustained a serious knee injury during the club’s 2-0 away win over Young Apostles in Wenchi.
The right back was forced off in the 90th minute following a brutal challenge, with Kotoko’s medical team immediately arranging for him to be transported back to Kumasi for urgent assessment.
IMR scans have since confirmed that Lord Amoah suffered tears to both the anterior cruciate and medial meniscus ligaments, injuries that are expected to keep him out of action for an extended period.
The 27-year-old, who has already contributed nine goals this season, is scheduled to undergo surgery in the coming days as the team awaits his recovery.
