Interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu has conceded that Asante Kotoko’s attacking inefficiency was the key issue in their 0-0 stalemate against Vision FC in the Ghana Premier League.
Speaking after the Week 24 clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Owusu described the encounter as “open” but acknowledged that his side failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the final third.
“It was an open game. Vision is not a bad side. When they get the ball, they do what they want to do and we also play when we get the ball, but when we get to the final turf, we just mess it up, and it’s a problem we need to work on,” he said.
Despite enjoying 60 percent possession, Kotoko could not turn dominance into goals. The hosts registered nine shots on target and eight off target, while Vision FC, playing part of the match with 10 men, produced seven on-target efforts and three off target.
The result sees Kotoko drop valuable points in their chase for the league summit. They remain fourth on the log, seven points behind the leaders, with Owusu stressing the need for improvement in finishing as the team looks to close the gap.
